(All are approved by Division of Child Development NCDHHS and are worth 1.0 contact hour credits)

  1. Speech and Language Development of the Four Year Old: A general overview of typical development of the four year old helps you monitor children's speech and language skills. Red flags for possible communication problems will be reviewed. A great overview for teachers, this in-service will increase teachers' knowledge and give them guidelines to use when talking with parents about student's performance as well as help identify possible speech or language problems.

  2. Phonological Awareness in the Preschool Years: A MUST for teachers that are helping children get ready to succeed in kindergarten! Phonological awareness skills are important for literacy development. This in-service will educate your teachers about phonological awareness and provide them with the knowledge to teach their students the foundations of literacy.

  3. Techniques for Enhancing Speech and Language Development Naturally in the Preschool/Pre-K Classroom Environment: In addition to a brief overview of speech and language development for Preschool/Pre-K children, techniques to enhance speech and language development naturally, through daily routiness and activities will be presented.
